Our Vision: A Community of Embrace

"To journey with Jesus is to join a revolution whose movement and cause are God's desire for the world. Jesus calls this the Kingdom of God. It's a new order that seeks to restore the economy and dignity of all people, including the poor and oppressed, the widow and orphan, the downtrodden and the bedraggled... fellow outcasts longing to be embraced!"
Pastor Scott Johnson

Embracing God

We embrace our Creator God who has already embraced us in Jesus Christ! This embrace takes the form of an intimate relationship where we both know God and are known by Him as He exists in Triune form. In discovering how much He loves us, we respond by worshiping God, loving God, serving God, and we grow up in God along the journey. This development comes through prayer, trusting the Holy Spirit as our guide, and embracing God's Word. We find direction in life by both examining the Scriptures and allowing the Scriptures to in turn examine and bring about change in our lives.

Embracing Life

We choose to fully live life. Holistic life becomes real when we move beyond our own limited view and step into the journey of following God. Here, there is no room for phony living, trying to act like we have it all together. We accept that we bring a lot of baggage to life and realize that wherever we go, there we are. But we are committed to growing up and growing out of the destructive patterns that lessen our lives. We recognize that we can begin to move beyond our own chaos by stepping into the care of our Creator God who longs to guide us into a life of discovery whereby we become more than we have ever even imagined. On the way we develop and are shaped wholly in Him -- body, soul, and spirit.

Embracing Bend

We desire to authentically and practically serve the Central Oregon community. We strive to accept people just as they are and never place ourselves in the position of judge and jury of others. We long to accept all people, rejecting shallow and exclusionary dogma that divides. Cascade Covenant is a safe place to belong to one another and discover God's liberating love for all people regardless of any category that would segregate humanity. All people deserve the chance to wholly find themselves in relationship with their Creator God, so we love, accept, forgive, and come alongside the Central Oregon community. Our hope is that through relationship, connection, and dialogue lost people are found and hurting people are helped. As Jean Val Jean said in the musical Les Miserables, "To love another person is to see the face of God."
